Sweet T

The subject of the painting, Sweet-T, 40" x 30", Watercolor, ©2002 Sally Caswell, is the 1927 Model T, the last Model T manufactured by Ford. Initially created for the mass market, the Model T had provided an affordable car for an economical price, introducing the world of automobile travel to people whose mode of transportation had been predominantly by horseback or horse-drawn carriage. This model still contained parts made of wood, the most obvious pictured here are the wooden wheels. Following 1927, the competition of General Motors and others created a thrust for engineering innovations aimed at improving performance, and redesigning for comfort.

Each of the Antique Automobile 30" x 40" Watercolor Paintings, which were commissioned by a corporate collection in Memphis, TN, took over two-hundred hours to paint, in the traditional watercolor technique of layers of graded washes to create the illusion of the painted metal and chrome surfaces.
